2003 Daffodil Youth High-Point Awards
In 2003 the Daffodil Club decided we should do something to stimulate youth participation in our shows, so we decided on an award system based on the way Scottsdale awards their Hi-Point Youth, only we wanted this award to be aimed at those who were members of our Club. We have the first results. Congratulations!
Hi-Point 14-17 Champion:

Rachel Corey with Edward of Cyte
Rachel Corey and Edward of Cyte: I am a sophomore at Rogers High School in Puyallup. I ride my bay gelding, Edward of Cyte (a.k.a. Eddie). I enjoy riding Hunter, Hunt Seat Eq., Show Hack, and I just started riding Country Pleasure with him this year. My favorite is Show Hack. This year we won two Regional Championships in Show Hack. I hope to take him to Scottsdale again this year, because last year we had a blast.
Hi-Point 13 and under Champion:
Sheila Bilodeau and Myrabida: This is Sheila's first year on the Arabian circuit, OH what a year she has had! She purchased the mare, Myrabida, this year and they have had a wonderful year in the western pleasure division. Sheila said her most important wins were the Championships at Region 4 where she competed against 21 horses. Next she placed Top Ten at Youth Nationals. But the frosting on the cake was when she competed in the Ladies to Ride Class at the SWAA Show, where she placed first over several northwest trainers.
Sheila attends Thunder Mountain Middle School in Enumclaw. She and her parents are renovating Country Lane Training Stables in Enumclaw. Tom Demyon is her trainer and she credits him for her great season. She also thanks her parents for their help and support.
Reserve Hi-Point Champion 14-17:

Laura Quann with Austin D
Laura Quann and Austin D; 16-year-old Laura attends Emerald Ridge High School in Puyallup. Laura has shown in schooling shows since she was eleven years old. This was her first year to experience the Hunter division in the open show circuit with Austin D. They purchased Austin D from Dale and Wyona Worthington in 2001, and states she just loves his personality because he is just like her.
Reserve Hi-Point 13 & Under:
Julia Shaefer and OKW Taurean; Julia attends Overlake School in Redmond and is also the Region 5 Youth Secretary. She has been riding since the age of 8. Everything began to click when she started riding dressage two years ago. Julia rides Loves to Danse in the Hunter Division. Julia trains with the Morning Star Farm.
The awards will be presented at the Annual Dinner Meeting at the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn in November. Details for the Dinner Meeting can be found on our Calendar of Events.
Participants in the program must be members of DAHA. Points are earned by placings at both the Daffodil Arabian Spring Show and the Daffodil Arabian Summer Show. For complete information on this program contact Rose Corey at 253-845-1899 or .
